The Founder and Director of Geopol. Tarik holds a BA in History with Politics from the University of Buckingham, a MA in Global and Comparative History from the University of Warwick, and is currently working towards a PhD in Politics, Languages and International Studies at the University of Bath. Tarik’s research focus is Eurasia and Türkiye.

Amriza Basyari Batubara (Basya)
Basya is Co-Director & Assistant Editor for Geopol. He is a graduate of an MA in International Peace and Security at King’s College London and holds a BA in Politics and Sociology with proficiency in French at the University of Exeter. Basya, is also a representative of Indonesia and Deputy Head of Youth and Students at the ASEAN-UK Business Forum.

Adina is a analyst at Geopol. She holds a BA from the University of Liverpool and an MA in Political Science and International Relations from Korea University. Adina has experience in diplomacy, working at the Romanian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea.

Alexander is a contributing political risk and intelligence analyst at Geopol based in Washington D.C, with experience in geopolitical risk writing, corporate investigations, and protective intelligence.

Martha Cheek
Martha is an analyst on the Latin America & Caribbean Research Desk. She holds a BA from the University of Manchester in History and Portuguese, and has recently started an MPhil at the University of Cambridge in Politics and International Studies. Martha is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and specialises in Latin American political analysis.

Edward is an analyst at Geopol that specialises in radicalisation, extremism and ethno-sectarian political violence in the Middle East. Edward is currently working towards his postgraduate degree in Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St Andrews and holds a BSc in Social Anthropology.

Elle is an analyst on the Security and Terrorism Desk, and holds a MSc in War & Psychiatry from Kings College London. Elle also works for the Democratic Progress Institute, conducting research and analysis.

Saaud is an analyst for Geopol’s Indo-Pacific Research Desk and has collaborated with think tanks and corporate organizations, contributing actionable recommendations for security and policy frameworks. Saaud holds an MA in World Politics and International relations from Università di Pavia.

Maciej is an analyst on the Europe Research Desk. He is currently in his final year of a BA in International Relations at King’s College London. Fluent in Polish, Maciej has experience as an Economic Researcher at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London.

Lucy Downing
Lucy is an analyst on the Middle East & North Africa Research Desk. Lucy holds an MSc in International Public Policy and a BA in English Literature and American Studies. Alongside facilitating interfaith relations, she has managed projects surrounding community cohesion and educational empowerment, including in the Middle East. Outside of geopolitics, Lucy enjoys learning languages, football, and live music.

Michal is an analyst on the Middle East & North Africa Research Desk. Michal is in his third at the University of St Andrews, studying International Relations and Middle East Studies. Michal has previously contributed to the Institute of Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus studies as an intern. His research focus lies in emerging trends in environmental policies and international legal governance with a focus on the Middle East and European Union's relations.

She holds an M.A. in Conflict, Security, and Development from the King's College of London's Department of War Studies, and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington's Jackson School of International Studies. She is fluent in both English and German.

Jake is an analyst on the European Research Desk. He holds a B.A. in International Affairs from the University of Georgia (USA) and an M.A. in International Relations from Leiden University (Netherlands). His travels and international experiences in Austria, Kosovo, and beyond have shaped his focus on European security.

Irshad Nur
Irshad is an analyst on the Africa Research Desk. He holds an MSc in Defence and Security from Cranfield University, in partnership with the UK Defence Academy, an MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London, and a BSc in Economics from Middlesex University. He has a decade of experience in training and development for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, working for leading defence companies. Irshad specialises in regional security in the Horn of Africa and the Gulf, as well as counterterrorism and peacebuilding strategies.

Rim is an analyst on the Middle East and North Africa Research Desk. She holds an MA in Intelligence and International Security from King’s College London and a BA in Politics and International Relations from the University of Manchester. She has a strong interest in the MENA region, shaped by both her academic background and professional experience working in the Political Department of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in London.

Rex is an analyst on the Security and Terrorism Desk. He holds a BSc in International Affairs and an MA in History & International Studies. Currently, he is completing an MLitt in Terrorism & Political Violence at the University of St Andrews under the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. He also works as a research assistant at CSTPV. Beyond academia, he funds education for talented, underprivileged Nigerian youths through his charity.

Ayusha specialises in Gender, Right wing populism and the interplay between political science and economics and its effects on the broader population.

She is also a member of Common Futures Conversations at Chatham House.

Noah is an analyst on the Türkiye Research Desk. He holds a BA in Anthropology and History and an MSc in Conflict, State-building, and Development, both from the University of Birmingham. Noah has gained experience in the political risk sector through roles as a research assistant at the Fund for Peace and an intern at the Istanbul Policy Center. His research focuses on natural resource governance as well as a strong interest in the Black Sea Region.

Raphael is an analyst on the Latin America & Caribbean Research Desk. He holds a BA in Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics from the University of Cambridge. He also studied Political Science at both the University of Havana and the University of Antioquia. Raphael's experience studying in Colombia and Cuba and teaching English in Peru has shaped his interest in the prevailing political, economic, social, and cultural trends of Latin America. He is fluent in English, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

He has over four years of client services experience across multiple industries, including responsibilities such as business management and business development consultancy.

Jasleen is an analyst on the Africa Research Desk. Jasleen holds a BA in International Relations with a minor in Criminal Justice and a concentration in Peace and Conflict from the United States International University–Africa (USIU-A). She is a Fellow with the International Relations Society of Kenya (IRSK), joint initiative by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). Her research and interests centre on diplomacy, intelligence, security, and global governance, with a particular focus on conflict resolution and geopolitical dynamics across Africa. She is a native speaker of English, Kiswahili, Punjabi, and Hindi.

She brings hands-on experience in renewable energy policy, helping clients navigate fast-moving regulatory and political changes. Her research focuses on the Soviet Union and the Cold War, and she has also done work in Middle Eastern security and diplomacy and Russian geopolitics. She is particularly interested in Russian-Middle Eastern relations. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew, and proficient in Russian.
